VARDAR
GIRLS WIN FIFTH STATE CUP CHAMPIONSHIP
(October 21, 2008) – Vardar
Champions! Coach Demir Muftari
shares the gold medal win with
his U17 girls after beating the
Hawks 1-0 in the Michigan State
Cup Championship.
The Vardar U17
Girls edged the Michigan Hawks
1-0 on Oct. 18 at Independence
Park in Canton to win the 2009
Michigan State Cup Championship.
Kyla Cross of Clinton Township
scored the only goal. Megan
Siebert of Troy was selected as
the Most Valuable Player of the
tournament and Anna Sieloff of
Troy was named Most Valuable
Goalkeeper.
The Vardar-Hawks match-up was
the sixth year in a row that the
two teams met in the Final and
the fifth year that Vardar took
the championship crown. The
Girls State Cup is the first
level of competition in the US
Youth Soccer National
Championship Series. State Cup
winners advance to the Regional
Championship which will be held
June 19-24, 2009 in Sioux Falls,
SD, and regional winners advance
to the National Championships
held July 21-26 in Lancaster,
MA.
The 2009 Michigan State Cup
Championship culminates a 6-0
tournament for the Vardar girls.
In preliminary matches the
Vardar girls beat North Stars
(16-1), Gators Blue (6-0), LCSC
Meteors (4-0), Canton Celtic
(2-0) and Hawks Red (2-0).
For six seniors
of the 17 Vardar girls, the
State Cup win was the last
opportunity to compete in this
format as they are graduating
from high school.

U12 Vardar Ann Arbor boys won
the FC Pride tourney |
|
(October 7, 2008) –
Over the weekend
Vardar Ann Arbor sent 4 teams to
the FC Pride tourney in Indianapolis and 3 out of the 4 teams made it
to the Finals.
Congratulations to all the
players that participated in the
tourney.
The U12 boys
Black went 4-0 winning their 1st
tourney of the fall season.
Nice job boys!
The U13 boys
Black lost in the finals 2-1 in
shootouts, playing up in the U14
boys division. Great
Stuff! The U13 girls Black
were a bit unlucky and lost 1-0
in the finals, but played
extremely well throughout the
entire weekend. Keep your
head up girls, you played very
well! Finally, the U13
boys White struggled to find the
back of net, but played well
defensively and throughout the
midfield. Keep working hard
boys!

|
(August 10, 2008) – The Vardar
U13 girls defended their U12
title from last year at the NSR
Cup Tournament held August 9-10,
2008 in Saginaw. They beat
Kingdom Reserves, MI Hawks Black
and MI Hawks Red to win their
bracket. T
hey defeated Vardar North in the
semi-final with a 4-0 win and
went on to beat Grand Rapids
Crew Jrs. 3-0 in the final.

Soony Saad named the 15/16 Boys Academy Player of the Year |
|
(July 18, 2008) – The U.S.
Soccer Development Academy
announced the 2007-08 Academy
Player of the Year for the Under
15/16 age group at the
Development Academy Finals Week
at The Home Depot Center in
Carson, Calif.
The U-15/16 Player of the Year
is Soony Saad from Vardar. Soony
has parlayed his impressive
performance into call-ups to the
U.S. U-17 Men's National Team.
The recipients of the honors
were voted upon by U.S. Soccer's
Development Academy coaches and
National Team scouts. Already,
13 of the 22 players on the
Starting XI have been in camp
with a U.S. Youth National Team,
and the 10 players from the
Starting XI have one more chance
to impress the National Team
scouts.

The Vardar U16
Girls advance to the USYSA National Championship Series |
(July 14, 2008) – The Vardar U16
Girls, coached by Demir Muftari,
are on their way to the USYSA
National Championship Series to
be held July 22-27 in Little
Rock, AR. The team was selected
by the Region II Championship
committee to attend Nationals.
To get to the Regional Final,
Vardar girls advanced through
their bracket by beating
Nebraska (Gladiator Rio) 4-0,
tying Iowa (Des Moines Heat)
1-1, and winning 4-0 over
Minnesota (Woodbury Inferno).
The Semi-Final was against Ohio
North's Cleveland Internationals
with Vardar winning 2-0.
Showing the passion to claim the
regional title, Eclipse and
Vardar met to determine the
champion and a spirited contest
followed as both opponents
sought victory. After a
scoreless game in regulation,
Eclipse opened up the scoring
and claimed the regional crown.
Congratulations to the both
teams for a tremendous
performance. Good
luck at nationals!!

Another Vardar
Player Joins the U.S Soccer National Residency Program |
(June 12, 2008) – Soony Saad, a
member of the U-16 Vardar
Academy League, has been
selected among the nation's top
players to join the U.S National
Residency Roster for the Fall of
2008 in Bradenton Florida.
Soony & his older brother
Hamoody Saad recently
joined Vardar Soccer Club
this past year and since have
helped bring the team to many
victories. The U-16 Academy
record is 16-2-3. The Saad
brothers' goal is to win their
league and represent their new
club at the National
Championship in July, which will
be held in California.
Soony attributes their recent
success to the great coaching
staff: Morris and Mike Lupenec
as well as their fellow
teammates. Soony will miss his
team and coaches as he bids
farewell this fall. "It will be
sad to say goodbye, but I'm
excited for my team-mates who
look to have an awesome finish
this year and a bright fresh
team next year in the U-18
Academy. Thanks to all!!

Vardar U12 boys
win the Adidas Warrior Classic |
|
The Vardar Red U12 boys
won the championship at
the Adidas Warrior
Soccer Classic in Dayton
over Memorial Day
weekend. The team
went undefeated and
played teams from Ohio,
West Virginia and
Michigan.
The team defeated the
Dayton Warriors in the
semi-finals to advance
to the championship
game. In the final
game they defeated
the Michigan Wolves 3-2
in overtime to win the
championship.

U11 Boys win Novi Jaguar Tournament |
|
Congratulations to the Vardar U11 boys team
who won at the Novi Jaguar Tournament the
weekend of May 9-11. The boys went
undefeated in their bracket to advance to
the championship game.
The Vardar boys defeated the Cleveland
Whitecaps in the championship game 7-1.

U10 Girls win Novi Jaguar Tournament |
|
The U10 Vardar girls won the Novi Jaguar
Tournament played May 9-11. The team
went undefeated to win their bracket and
advance to the finals.
In the championship game, the Vardar girls
defeated Pacesetter Premier in double
overtime.
Prior to the
championship game on sunday (Mothers Day),
Coach Jennifer Perkins new baby girl was
born. Mom and baby are doing well.

U14 Girls Earn
Trip to Regionals
|
|
The Vardar U14
Girls have earned a berth to the USYSA
Region II Championships. The girls have
positioned themselves in a tie for first
place in the MRL Premier Division Blue and
will play for the MRL championship next
week. With six games completed in the
schedule the girls have accumulated a record
of 5 wins and 1 tie and have beaten some of
the nation’s most successful teams.
We
congratulate the girls on an excellent
performance and great achievement. With high
expectations of themselves these girls have
achieved the goals they set with incredible
teamwork, mental strength, and hard work .

Niki Read to attend the U18 Women's National
Team training camp |
|
Niki Read,
a member of the Vardar U16 team, has been
selected to attend the U18 Women's National
Team training camp to be held May 3-10 in
Sunrise, FL.
Niki has been a Vardar player since U-9. She
has been a Regional Team ODP player for
three years and has attended three national
team training events as well as an Adidas
ESP camp which highlights the top 92 high
school sophomores.
With her Vardar team, Niki has been part of
four State Cup Championships and one
Regional Championship. Her team will next
represent Michigan at the June Region II
Championships in Rockford, IL. She is
currently coached by Demir Muftari. Niki is
also verbally committed to the University of
Illinois. She is a 16-year-old junior at
Lake Orion High School. |

Cup Champions! |

The U11 Vardar
girls won the Northern Ohio Tournament
championship with a come-from-behind victory
against the Excalibur Soccer Club.
The girls scored four goals in the last 7
minutes to win 4-3 in the final game.
Congratulations go out to Coach Josh Back and the girls for
a tremendous performance.

Vardar Player to Train at Chelsea FC |
|
(January
18 2008) – Tom Allot will have the unique
pleasure of training and playing at the
Chelsea Football Club. The historic club
have invited the Disney Soccer Showcase
All-Stars to train at Chelsea FC and compete
in the inaugural Chelsea FC Youth Cup which
takes place in August 2008. The All-Star
team was selected from teams competing at
the Disney Soccer Showcase. There were
eighteen U16 boys selected from the
participating teams.
The
Vardar Soccer Club is proud of Tom’s
achievement and we wish him all the best at
Chelsea this August.

Chelsea invites top U.S. youth players to train |
|
ORLANDO -- (January 18 2008)
– Eighteen of America's best youth soccer
players were named to Disney's Soccer
Showcase All-Star Team during a ceremony at
Disney's Wide World of Sports.
Disney's Soccer Showcase
All-Star Team, comprising of at least one
player from each team in the U-16 boys
showcase bracket, has been invited by
English Premier League team Chelsea Football
Club to train at compete at the club's
world-class facilities near London.
The All-Star team will
compete in the inaugural Chelsea FC Youth
Cup in August 2008, which will bring
together teams from across the world for an
international competition.

some incredible young talent in America.

Vardar Selected For U.S.
Soccer's Development Academy |
|
64 clubs from
24 States and the District of Columbia
Represented in Program's Inaugural Year with
Clubs Focused on Improving Development
Environment
The 64 teams will be
divided into eight conferences, each
comprised of eight teams based largely on
geographic proximity. Each team will play
approximately 30 matches during an
eight-month season, with the winner of each
conference playing in the Academy Finals at
The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Additional Development Academy program
elements such as a Technical Workshop and
Best Practices seminars are being finalized.
“The clubs participating
in the inaugural Academy season represent a
shared vision of player development and the
desire to change the current landscape,”
said U.S. Soccer’s Director of Coaching
Education Bob Jenkins. “These clubs were
selected because of their ability to
implement the best development environment
for our elite youth players.”

Vardar Attends the Nations finest Showcases |
|
(January
23, 2008) – Vardar teams have been attending
the nation’s finest events and impressing
college coaches across the country.
The U7
girls attended the Raleigh Shootout the
first weekend in December and throughout the
three day showcase were viewed by over 110
Universities. The girls put in fine
performances against the Rochester Jr
Rhinos, Solar, and the Colorado Rush. The
girls also participated in the Orange
Classic in Fort. Lauderdale were they
competed in the highest bracket and faced
Parkland Predators, Soccer Rhode Island, and
Arsenal World Class.
The U16
girls returned from the prestigious Final
Four Showcase in Texas where they faced the
Dallas Texans, the Texas Challenge, and
Tophat. The girls played in front of, and
impressed, many coaches from the biggest
conferences in the nation as they went
undefeated in their three games and showed
why they are one of the top teams in the
nation. The team was very proud of their
efforts and the opportunity to showcase
their skills to the nation’s elite college
programs.
Vardar
Boys also took part in showcase events as
the two Vardar Academy teams traveled to the
Nike Friendlies in Bradenton Florida. This
elite events brings together the top clubs
in the country and some of the top national
youth teams in the world, including the
United States and Brazilian U17 squads. The
U15/16 Academy competed against Metropolitan
Oval from Brooklyn, the Chicago Sockers, and
the Clearwater Chargers. The U16/17 Academy
faced Real Colorado, FC Delco, and the
United States Under 17 National Team. All
the Vardar boys represented the club proudly
and had the opportunity to play in front of
National Team Staff, MLS staff, and the very
large number of college coaches.
Following the Nike Friendlies the boys
traveled to the Disney Soccer Showcase. The
U15s, and the two Vardar Academies
participated in this fine showcase event and
performed at the highest level.
Coming
up Vardar Girls have their final two
showcases as they will compete in the
Buckeye Showcase on Presidents day in
Cincinnati and then the Vardar Soccer Club
will host the Vardar College Combine on
March 9th at the Ultimate Soccer Arenas.
Congratulations to all the Vardar teams that
are competing amongst the nation’s elite. |
