Complete SoccerBuzz.com list

SoccerBuzz.com, the nation's premiere on-line soccer magazine, announced today that Detroit senior Mary Parker has been selected to the publication's All-Great Lakes Region First-Team. This marks the third straight year that Parker has been selected to the magazine's award list.

Parker (Troy, MI/Athens HS) truly saved her best for last, picking up Horizon League Player of the Year accolades for the second time in her career, while leading the league in goals (17), points (40), goals per game (0.81) and points per game (1.8). Both of her per game averages ranked her in the top-10 nationally in their respective categories.

In addition to being named Player of the Year, Parker also became just the fifth player in conference history to garner First-Team All-League honors four times and is the first player to be named to the League Championship All-Tournament Team four times. Earlier this month, she became the first Detroit athlete to be named First-Team Academic All-America.

Parker closed her career with 47 goals, 17 assists and 111 points, becoming just the 12th player in the history of the league to pass the 100-point mark. Her 47 goals rank her third all-time at Detroit, and her 111 points places her fourth. In addition, her 17 assists is good for seventh in program history.

Soccer Buzz is the exclusive magazine on the Internet devoted to women's collegiate soccer at the NCAA Division 1 level.

Detroit finished the season at 10-11 and appeared in the Horizon League Championship match for the fourth straight season.

Women's Soccer Garners NSCAA Academic Awards

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its 2006 Academic Awards today and Detroit senior Mary Parker was named to the organization's All-Central Region Scholar Team. In addition to Parker's individual award, the Titans as a team were honored for their team grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 with the NSCAA's Team Academic Award.

Parker's award is just the latest in a long line of awards for the midfielder. The four time All-League selection was tabbed to the NSCAA's Scholar All-Central Region team after posting a 3.8 GPA in chemistry and pre-med.

Earlier this month, Parker (Troy, MI/Athens HS) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team as well as the Horizon League All-Academic team. Parker was also the 2006 Horizon League Player of the Year and was named to the SoccerBuzz.com All-Great Lakes Region First Team. Parker was selected from players at all levels of collegiate soccer which includes NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and the junior college ranks.

As a team, the Titans garnered selection for the Team Academic Award after posting a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 for the 2005-06 academic year. The team was bolstered by 13 selections to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll as well as eight selections to the Horizon League Honor Roll.
