"This is a great honor for
Mary and for our program," said head coach
Mike Lupenec, the 2005
Horizon League Coach of the Year. "It's good to see that other coaches in our region
see that Mary is the best player in our conference and one of the top players in
the region. Not only does she standout on the field, but her Academic All-League
selection yesterday shows that she is a true student-athlete."
Lupenec's Titans finished the
season at 10-4-5 overall and in second place in the league at 5-1-1 and appeared
in their third-straight Horizon League Championship match. Detroit
came up just short of defending its 2004 League title, tying Milwaukee in the
Horizon League championship match before falling in a shoot-out.
Three other Vardar girls earned all-region honors along with Parker
as Lindsey Dunmead a junior from Miami Ohio earned 2nd team
honors. Third team honors went to goalkeeper Anne Decker of Central
Michigan and Emma Harris of Michigan State.
The Vardarstars organization would like to congratulate all three
young ladies on a job well done and we pass on our best wishes to all of
our alumni family.
