Vardar South - State Cup Champions
June 5th, 2012 -
The Vardar South U11 boys team advanced to the State Cup Finals after
defeating Phoenix 2:1 in the semi finals. In the finals they faced
Dexter. After a tight first half the boys took control in the second
half and cruised to a 4:1 victory. The road to the finals was certainly
not easy. In each of the knockout rounds the boys had to come from
behind. In the quarterfinals they faced a 2:0 deficit against CW3 before
winning 4:2. Against Phoenix the pattern continued as they were down 1:0
before coming from behind once again winning 2:1. Why should anything
change for the finals, right? Down 1:0 after Dexter converted a penalty
kick, the boys once again showed great character. As soon as Vardar
settled down and focused on possession the game opened up. With 4
unanswered goals the Vardar South U11 boys were crowned Champions.
"This is actually a
remarkable feat for the boys. Not only are we 4 years young, this is a
first year team. The development that these boys have shown is insane,"
commented Dennis Brose, Director of Coaching for Vardar South. When
asked how the future looks Brose replied, "Things are really picking up.
People are starting to recognize that we are here to stay. All of our
younger teams play some amazing soccer. We plan on keeping our long term
focus on development. Size and speed will get you wins in the short
term. However, when everyone is eventually the same size and equally as
fast, those that focused on the fundamentals will then have a major
advantage. That same model will be implemented in Dearborn Heights.

Vardar South reaches 4 out of 8 finals at
Canton Cup; 3 Championships
May 21, 2012 –
Vardar South had an impressive showing at
this years Canton Cup. Vardar South entered the tournament with 8 teams.
Four of them reached the finals. Three of them were crowned champions.
The u12 boys "Black" team,
the u11 boys "Black" team, the u10 boys "Black" team and the u12 Vardar
Southfield team all reached the finals. The u12 "Black" team out of
Livonia won in dramatic fashion beating the Canton Celtic in a penalty
kick shootout. The same went for the u12 Vardar Southfield team. They
were victorious over Farmington in a penalty kick shootout. The u11
"Black" won in less dramatic fashion beating CW3 3:0 in the finals. The
only runner up in the group was the u10 "Black" team which came up short
against the hosts.
The u11 "Red" and u12 "Red
teams also posted impressive records (2 wins, 1 loss) and just missed
out on the finals on goal differential. "Overall I cannot be more
pleased with the performance of our teams" said Dennis Brose, Director
of Coaching for Vardar South. "All of our teams play soccer the way it's
supposed to be played. When we lose it's mostly due to the fact that
other teams are just a lot bigger, faster and stronger than us. I'm not
worried. When our kids grow we will be able to compete with the best of
them".
The Vardar South u11
"Black" have reached the State Cup semi finals. They will play Phoenix
in Lansing next week.

MARCH
2012 --
Vardar South
has added a
U9 girls
team that
will begin
play
immediately.
Vardar South
has had some
older girls
teams in the
past. This
team is
particularly
exciting
because it
is a young

very
excited"
said
Director of
Coaching
Dennis
Brose. "This
will give us
the
opportunity
to mold a
young girls
team within
the
framework of
our
philosophy
and proven
methodologies".
The addition
of this team
has sparked
much
interest in
the local
community.
"Hopefully
this team
will be the
pioneer in
developing a
successful
girls
program
under the
Vardar South
umbrella".
This would
be the 11th
team under
the Vardar
South
umbrella
adding to
the 10
successful
